To The Military Police Fund for Blind Children,

I would like to begin by thanking The Military Police Fund for Blind Children, and the volunteers who helped me and my family through the application process, for the funding of my Braille Note Apex. Firstly, the Braille Note has given me the opportunity and capability to once more continue reading fluently and independently as I once could read with my vision. Losing my vision a year ago, I lost the ability to read and write naturally and efficiently. Unfortunately, reading is one of my greatest passions, and thus consequently I felt lost and hopeless at the time having to decrease my academic rigour while coming face to face with unimaginable obstacles.

Although I have made great strides of progress in many areas since losing my vision, I have been unable to find a sufficient solution to replace my former visual method of reading. For instance, conventional braille books are cumbersome and impractical, while auditory methods have been time efficient though lacking much needed depth for critical reading. However, the Braille Note has been able to further bridge the gap created by vision loss by presenting braille in a portable and efficient medium unlike other technologies I have tried. Aside from the fact that this Braille Note has given me the physical capability to once more read comfortably and critically, it has also given me a strong sense of hope in my future and a stronger determination to face my challenges and hopefully reach my goals of becoming a scientist and solving even greater problems for society as a whole.

I am unimaginably grateful for the funding of the Braille Note Apex. Because of my loss of vision, my family has had to not only pay significant medical expenses, but also has had to purchase extra technologies for me in order to simply be able to read and write in order to be able to continue with school. I have found that blindness is more than enough of a challenge for anyone, but adding financial obstacles to it only magnifies the challenges associated with the physical vision loss. This simple yet far-reaching generosity that the volunteers of The Military Police Fund for Blind Children have provided me with has eliminated that one extra obstacle forme. Once more, thank you.

Sincerely,
Adam Jozefiak
