The 24th Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children

On 12 September 2014, the NCR Military Police hosted the 24th Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC).  The event was held for a seventh year at the Club de Golf Outaouais in Rockland, ON and hosted 200 golfers with the help many volunteers.  Due to the generosity of our sponsors and golfers, this year’s event raised approximately $13 000 for vision impaired children.

“Another great golfing success for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children this year,” said Major Mike Motyl, MPFBC Golf Tournament Chairperson.  I am so pleased to watch our Military Police community come together for such an important cause.”

The MPFBC was founded in 1957 by Colonel James Stone and specializes in assisting visually impaired children in Canada up to the age of 21.  One of the very notable aspects of the MPFBC is that it is run and managed by Military Police volunteers who, through a board of directors, disperse close to $200 000 every year to support over 150 kids.

Military Police and MPFBC supporters conduct hundreds of events each year to raise funds all around the world.  These events range from hockey tournaments and BBQs to car washes.  They also include the Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride which this year fundraised $110,000 for MPFBC and the Children’s Wish Foundation.
