Welcome to our website. The Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC) was founded in 1957 and specializes in assisting visually impaired children up to the age of 21. The fund is operated entirely by Military Police volunteers and has no paid employees. All funds raised are used to benefit visually impaired children. Read more...

Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) Recongnition Ceremony

On 4 May 2016, members of the Canadian Forces Military Police Group and the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC) attended a recognition ceremony at the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC), Kanata location. The OCTC wanted to thank the Military Police and the MPFBC for donating $13,000 to purchase a Gesture Tek Cube, which is an interactive device used to foster visual stimulation and mobility in visually impaired clients of the OCTC. Major (Retired) Wayne Edgar BOONE - MPFBC Supporter

Suddenly on Saturday afternoon, June 20th, 2015 at the age of 59.

Major (Retired) Wayne Boone CD graduated from the Royal Military College of Kingston in 1979, whereupon he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army. After qualifying as a Military Police Officer, he completed operational tours in Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown, the Special Service Force, Petawawa, and CFB Trenton. Major Boone thereafter served in a series of information system security and operational planning billets in National Defence Headquarters Ottawa and 1 Canadian Air Division Winnipeg. He has deployed to Lebanon, Cyprus and Bosnia. Major Boone is a graduate of the Canadian Land Forces Staff College and the Canadian Forces Staff College. He retired from active duty in 1999.

Dr. Wayne Boone CD, CISSP, CPP, CBCP, CISM, PCIP is a retired senior military police officer and now an Asset Protection and Security (AP&S) risk analyst and program advisor, specializing in the protection, assurance and resilience of critical infrastructures and mission-essential business processes. He has over 26 years’ experience in the provision of effective and appropriate Information System (IS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) security, and over 35 years of Force Protection, Corporate Security, Operational Security and Business Continuity Planning (BCP), in both static and deployed environments.

Colonel (retired) J.R. Stone - Founder of the Military Policed Fund for Blind Children

Appointed to the Order of Canada (Member) on October 19th, 1994, investiture on March 1st, 1995. "A true humanitarian and one of Canada's few remaining highly decorated soldiers from World War Two and the Korean conflict, he founded the Military Police Fund for Blind Children in 1957, bringing happiness to these very special youngsters. Under his guidance and life-long patronage, the Canada-wide fund expanded its activities over the years to Europe and the Middle East, providing medical equipment as well as educational and recreational assistance, otherwise unavailable to the children. "

Chief Warrant Officer (retired) T.S. Kittilsen - MPFBC Supporter

Early in his military career, CWO Kittilsen began running to maintain physical fitness and soon ran away with the sport, training and competing in road races, marathons and ultra-marathons. He collaborated with other running buddies and initiated and participated in three 100 mile runs on the track at CFB Chilliwack raising thousands of dollars for the Military Police Blind Children’s Fund and was successful in completing his most serious running challenge, a 100 miler from CFB Shearwater to CFB Greenwood.

Master Warrant Officer Price was the Company Sergeant Major of 2 Military Police Company and staunch supporter of the Blind Fund.

The MPFBC Supports a Visually Impaired Woman near Esquimalt

The Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC) was pleased to donate $7,000 towards computer equipment and programming to assist Jamie Hill, a visually impaired young woman, with her wish to learn braille and communicate more effectively with her family and friends. The Military Police Fund for Blind Children Supports a Local Family near Brandon

On Monday, April 20, 2015, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Shilo Military Police (MP) received a call from Kristen Breemersch stating that her daughter Katrina had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour and was gradually losing her vision due to the size of the tumour. Operation Impact Raises Funds for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children

Course QL3 0023(F) is organising a sale of MPFBC support wristbands. The wristbands are $5 each and can be purchased through the OPI (Corporal Alexandre Vaillancourt - QL3 0023(F) course member).. If you wish to make an order for your unit, please canvas your troops and collect the money. Once you have a set amount, they will arrange shipping. Distinguished Service Medal - Cmre Gord MacKay

Commissionaire Gordon MacKay, a member of the North Alberta Division was award the Commissionaires Distinguished Service Medal in Ottawa on November 22. Commissionaire MacKay was the driving force behind the success of the Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride, a fundraising motorcycle ride that raised more than $100,000 to benefit the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. The Distinguished Service Medal was established by the Commissionaires’ National Board in 1989 to recognize distinguished service of significance above and beyond faithful performance of duty. Thank You Letter from Adam

A wonderful thank you letter from Adam Jozefiak, who recently received a Braille Note from the Canadian Military Police Fund for Blind Children. A braille note is for persons with visual impairments. It has a braille keyboard, speech synthesizer, and a 32 or 18-column refreshable Braille display, depending on model. Read more.

1 MP Regiment Hosts Visit

On 11 Sep 14, 1 Military Police Regiment (1 MP Regt), in its ongoing commitment to support the efforts of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC), facilitated a tour of 3 Canadian Division Support Group (CDSG) Edmonton for Andy Tan, a local and deserving visually-impaired teenager from St. Edmund’s Elementary/Junior High School, Edmonton, AB. The 24th Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children

On 12 September 2014, the NCR Military Police hosted the 24th Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC).  The event was held for a seventh year at the Club de Golf Outaouais in Rockland, ON and hosted 200 golfers with the help many volunteers.  Due to the generosity of our sponsors and golfers, this year’s event raised approximately $13 000 for vision impaired children. ‘’Expédition 360’’

On Sunday, 22 June 2014, CWO Serge RAYMOND visited the Quebec Foundation for the Blind team as they were about to leave the Port of Quebec on an expedition as part of the initiative ‘’Projets 360o’’. Véronique Bélanger asked CWO Raymond to get on the vessel for an official photograph with the children, the monitors and a few crew members. MPFBC Donates $100,000 to CHEO

The 10th Military Police annual hockey tournament organized by the CFNIS ER, was held at Base Valcartier form 28 to 30 March 14.  This tournament became an annual fund raiser for the Military Police fund for blind children (MPFBC).

For several years now, the Military Police Fund for Blind Children has been generously contributing funds towards sporting activities and summer camps which contribute to the well being and development of visually impaired children. MPFBC gather together at e Sight Eyewear for the fitting of Joshua Cook's new eyewear. This technology improves central vision and allows for more independent living and activity. The Royal 22 Régiment Band

On December 8th, 2013, the Royal 22 Régiment band, led by Major Eric Gagnon donated their time and musical talents to host a charity Christmas concert. Over 150 persons enjoyed a 2 hour concert and $1000 was raised for the MPFBC. It should be noted that 5 MP Regt, with the help of their partners (CFNIS ER and CFNCIU) raised over $20, 000 in 2013 for the MPFBC. Photos

Carter McIsaac's Visit to 21 Military Police Flight - Trenton

Carter McIsaac and his Mom, Nathalie McIsaac, spent an afternoon in November with Cpl Keyvan Norani of the Military Police in Trenton. Carter is vision impaired and is a recipient of funding from the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. 23rd Annual NCR Golf Tournament Another Success!

On 13 September 2013, the NCR Military Police hosted the 23rd Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC).  The event was held for a sixth year at the Club de Golf Outaouais in Rockland, ON and hosted 218 golfers with the help of 20 volunteers.  Due to the generosity of our sponsors and golfers, this event raised approximately $17 000 this year and over , $100 000 in the past seven years.

Cheque Presentation to the MPFBC from 492 MP Canadian Army Cadet Corp

492 Military Police Canadian Army Cadet Corps held their annual parade and review at the Gananoque Recreation Centre on May 22, 2013. During the ceremonies, they presented a cheque for $200.00 to the Military Police Fund for Blind Children, an amount which was matched by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92. Cheque Presentation to APSEA

Major Bob Edwards accompanied by Corporal Michel Plante, Halifax MPFBC representatiive, and Corporal Stone, Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride mascot bear, were on hand for a cheque presentation to Heather Conrad, Director of Finance with the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA). We were also fortunate to meet with Griffin Patterson and his Mother Jamie. Ex-CWO Gagne rides for the MPFBC!!!

Mr Gagne who rides his bicycle on a regular basis proposed to join his love for riding (approximately 4000 km per year) to a fund raising activity. He will be monitoring the kilometres he rides for the summer in exchange of a sponsorship deal. Of course, an independent witness is involved in the monitoring of the kilometres. The deal could be of a preset amount of money or an amount per kilometre and would have to be signed/agreed (a form is available).

CFB Borden Bowling League Raising Funds for the MPFBC

Military Police Security Service (MPSS) - Detachment Manila - Raising Funds for the MPFBC

Ian Hape, the Detachment Commander of MPSS Manila raised an incredible $5,188.00 (Cdn) for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children through a charity auction held at the Canadian Embassy. Ian and his deputy, Wray Arnold, were thoroughly impressed with the support shown by the diplomatic community and their security contacts. Well done Ian and Wray!

2013 Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride

The 2013 MPNMRR is ramping up for their 5th Annual ride across our great country. The ride starts August 6th in St John's NL and ends in Victoria BC on August 31st. Corporal Vaillancourt Raising Funds for the MPFBC

Cpl Vaillancourt, a reserve Military Policeman in Ottawa and also working full-time at the Recruiting Office, located in down-town Ottawa, challenged his Unit to raise $250 for the MPFBC. In return, Corporal Vaillancourt would shave his beard and contribue $250 of his own money. Corporal Vaillancourt's Unit was able to raise $273.50 through bake sales and a Chilli cook-off. Corporal Vaillancourt presented a cheque to Corporal Arial, the local MPFBC representative, for $523.50. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (Lieutenant-Colonel Sansterre) personally congratulates Corporal Vaillancourt on the tremendous efforts he demonstrated to raise $523.50 for such a great cause. Corporal Vaillancourt's efforts will have far reaching affects as there are always families who need assistance for their visually impaired children and without the generosity of people such asCorporal Vaillancourt, we would not be nearly as successful as we continue to be. 2012 Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride

Planning for the 2012 Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride (MPNMRR) is in full swing with Chairman Lamont French at the helm. Blind Fund Chair visits Gloucester Lion's Club

On the evening 1 Nov 11, LCol Gilles Sansterre (Chair) and Maj Mike Motyl (Pacific Regional Rep) provided a presentation to the Gloucester Lion's Club. The two Board members shared information about the organization of the Fund, fund raising efforts, how funds are distributed and the assistance needed to advertise to those visually impaired children in local communities. Our host, Mr. Dave Brush shared his enthusiasm over potential opportunities between our two organizations and offered to explore options in the Fund's efforts to raise and distribute funds to benefit visually impaired children. Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride - 2010

Mark Farrer and his dedicated committee are hard at work planning the next coast-to-coast motorcycle relay ride. This years ride will start at 19 Wing Comox and travel across the country, ending in historic St John's Newfoundland. Last years ride raised over $9,000 for the Blind Fund. Sixth Annual MP Hockey Tournament | Valcartier Quebec

CFNIS Eastern Region has once again hosted a stellar MP hockey tournament the last week of March 2010. The "Old Watchdogs" were the eventual tournament winner, however the Blind Fund was the true winner as the tournament raised an impressive $2,3000. Family and Friends for the Troops Supporting the MPFBC

Family and Friends for the Troops are a non-profit organization, comprised of civilians, Winnipeg Policemen and 13 Military Police Platoon Members. Their aim is to increase public support of the military by educating the public on the roles our Reservists play, honour their sacrifices and achievements, and promote their commitment to Community, Province and Country. They are planning a significant "Welcome Home Soldiers" event in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Canad Inns (Garden City). BZ to Master Corporal Steve Laird - Fundraising for the MPFBC

MCpl Steve Laird with the assistance of retired MP Dell Blakney designed and minted a 2 Military Police Platoon Commemorative Coin with proceeds going to the MPFBC. Recently MCpl Laird was able to donate $500.00 to the MPFBC.

22 Wing North Bay Raising Funds for the MPFBC

22 Wing North Bay has been extremely generous in their support of the Blind Fund. Though this information is a little dated, it has not been published on our site previously. Two significant events generated over $6,000.00 for the MPFBC. A benefit concert featuring the 22 Wing Concert band paying tribute to the 50th Anniversary of NORAD raised an incredible $3755.00. Click here for a photograph of the cheque presentation. Later, in November 2009, the 22 Wing Band paid tribute to the Centennial of Flight. This event raised another $2620.00 for the blind fund. JTF Afghanistan MP Coy ROTO 7 Raise Funds for MPFBC

High Praise from Winner of VIP Fishing Auction

CWO Barry Watson has just returned from his trip to Lac Seul, having won the auction last year. Barry was thoroughly impressed with the entire trip..."beyond belief" was mentioned several times. Barry also had very high praise for Ken and Brenda Robins, owner/operators of Lac Seul Outpost. A short slideshow of Barry's trip can be viewed here.

Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride

The MPNMRR is a Charity Fundraiser event to help raise money for Support Our Troops and the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. This event will consist of driving across Canada, passing through each Province (called Provincial Legs) with passing on the official baton, a Military Police Stuffed Bear. This ride will span from St. John's Newfoundland to Comox, British Columbia. For more details, visit the MPNMRR website.

Framed Wayne Gretzky Photograph Raffle

Two framed and signed photographs of Wayne Gretzky were raffled in the National Captial Region. The Grand Prize was a photograph of Wayne at centre ice at Maple Leaf Gardens following his final game there on December 19th, 1998. Second prize was a dressing room photograph of Wayne taken on April 18th, 1999. The draw raised in excess of $1100.00.

Military Police Qualification Level 3, Session 0056 Raise Money for the MPFBC

2009 - Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament

The 2009 Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament was another huge success, raising over $1,500.00 for the MPFBC. Military Police teams from all over Eastern and Central Canada converged on Quebec City for this annual event. The eventual tournament winners were the "Old Watchdogs", a team whose average age was over 45!

National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign

On November 20th, a cheque in the amount of $1154.85 was presented at NDHQ to the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. The funds were raised from generous donations by attendees at the Public Service Week BBQ held on June 18th at Cartier Square in Ottawa. Funds collected were in support of the NDWCC which then divided the proceeds between the MFRC and the MP Blind Fund.

The Personal Insurance Company Donates Barbecue to CFMPA
